The Art of Deception

There is no rock (tzur) like our G-d
Samuel I 2:2

Says the Talmud (Brachos 10a): Read not tzur (rock) but tzayar (artist). “There is no artist like our G-d.”

Say Chassidim: The artist is a master of deception. He takes a bit of canvas and pigment and creates something that is vibrant and alive. And the greater the deception, the greater the illusion of vitality he can impart to inanimate matter, the greater the artist he is.

The Creator is the greatest deceiver of them all. He takes nothing and makes of it a world. And what is our world? Still nothing. But it seems so real...

re:The Art of Deception
As an artist it is most humbling and empowering to have read the discourse on the Art of Deception.

How masterful the words are as to the concept of G-d and our world.
