Whose Moshiach?

Good & Evil   Faith   Miracles   Free Choice   Moshiach   Exile   Redemption   Prayer

After his release from imprisonment in Petersburg, Rabbi Schneur Zalman of Liadi passed through the city of Vitebsk, where he was received by the city elders and community leaders. “Tell us, Rebbe,” he was asked, “when will the tribulations of Israel end? When will the redeemer finally come?”

Rabbi Schneur Zalman lowered his eyes to the ground and said softly: “But how can he come? The Moshiach that everyone wants will never come, and the true Moshiach, no one wants….”

Paving the way for Mashiach
Have you ever stopped to consider what it must be like to actually be Mashiach. Put yourself in his shoes for a few seconds. Then put yourself back in your own shoes. The Rebbe taught to just do one more good deed. My understanding is that if everyone just does their little bit then the concept of Mashiach will be realised and whoever the Mashiach is, one thing is for sure...you have just make his life a little easier and the world a little better for us all!

On Moshiach
Sometimes I wonder if the Jews would accept Moschiach if he was a non-Jew. If and when Moschiach comes, his life will be put under intense scruntiny even though his life lessons would be for him alone. Like previous prophets and individuals chosen by G-d; people may forget that this individual was chosen by G-d for a purpose and only his words are to be held up to scrutiny and not his past life prior to being chosen by G-d. Just like how Jesus liked to teach using the story of the prodigal son who comes back to his father after losing his way; Moshiach may be a person who has learned lessons in life on his path of righteousness.

I am afraid, though, that people want the Moshiach to come so badly that they are in a position to be potentially deceived. Moshiach would definitely not come endorsed by world powers because someone like that would only be a tool to be used to further control people. Moshiach would also have to echo the words of other prophets in the Abrahamic religions; otherwise if someone claims to be Moshiach and sits in the temple discrediting Abrahamic religions it will be the anti-Moshiach (who is also in prophecy remember). Moshiach would likely come in order to unite people through Abrahamic religions and the words of the prophets and speak the truth which some people may not want to hear. Especially if they have been deceived.

Moshiach would also likely be someone whose very nature and character tests the faith of all people. The Jews especially. This is why I wonder if there is a possibility that Moshiach will even be a Jew in the first place. I would like to think that the Moshiach would attempt to bring peace between the Abrahamic religions despite centuries of hatred and wars. Who am I to predict, though, because that is only for G-d to know.

I do, however, have a feeling that we will find out shortly based on world political events and prophecy. If a third temple is being built; the temptation for someone to falsely say that they are the Moshiach is too great, and I do not think that G-d would let the abomination of desolation occur for too long if that all does, in fact, happen.

Peolple are so off track
I think that people, (particularly the fanatics of the Meshichist portion of the Lubavitchers,) have lost sight of what the concept of Moshiach is. At this point, they should be more concerned with bettering themselves as human beings, teaching their children values, contributing to the society and making a difference in this world. Who Moshiach is or isn't is irrelevant!!!
