Lag B’Omer

Discover the mystical meaning of the holiday of Lag B'Omer, the anniversary of the death of Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai, an important mystic of the Jewish religion.

In the northern hills of Israel, Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai, the author of the seminal Kabbalistic work, the Zohar, danced his soul upward to his Maker. But not before instructing his students to celebrate this day the way only mystics can. Bonfires are lit (is this not the role of the mystic, to bonfire the world?), dances are danced, and the children run out into the fields and trees to celebrate with bow and arrow. It is the thirty-third day of the counting of the Omer and it is a time to be merry and get mystical.
