Vayelech

Perhaps when a leader goes away it is so that we may go on.

Moses is about to go away for a while. This is Moses’ final day on earth. At 120 years of age, Moses completes writing the first Torah scroll of history, documenting the Word for all eternity. The leadership transitions to Joshua. Every seven years, during Sukkot, the people should gather at the Holy Temple in Jerusalem to hear the Torah, where the king shall read it. This will certainly ensure that the people prevail over any concealment, even when the Face of existence itself is hidden.
