Are Athletes Heroes? Post Olympic Musings

Sports captivates and consumes the lives and imaginations of so many people—the global sports industry worth over $200 billion dollars today! But are these athletes true role models and heroes, do we want our children – and ourselves – to look up to them and emulate their behavior? Do they simply excel in their specific fields or do we/should we be holding them to an exemplary moral and ethical standard?

Join Rabbi Jacobson as he discusses sports, heroes and the human’s nature to create role models for ourselves. Learn how to extract the best from each person, revealing and being inspired by their strengths and positive character traits, while realizing that athletes – and any person in the public (or even private) eye – are mere mortal beings and cannot be put on a pedestal (unless of course they are accepting a gold medal…) or idolized.
