What do you do about writer’s block? Best-selling author Rabbi Simon Jacobson shares this one tip: Think, “What need am I filling with the article or book I want to write?” Write with the intention of solving a dilemma. This will allow you to shift your focus away from yourself (writer’s block is you getting in your own way) to serving the needs of others. Do not try to force your writing. Instead, identify a problem or crisis you want to resolve. The greater the problem and the need the more it will draw out your energy and creativity — focusing on the cause you are serving, which is far more important than you.
