About This Slichos Song

This is a special time of year for looking back over the past year. We see what we can do better, what we can keep, what we can lose in the coming cycle. Time is a spiral and we can ride its energy into the new year. Rosh Hashanah — head of the Year. The control center of our hearts and minds is open to rebuilding. Look inside for the Selichos — those prayerful Forces that enable us to re evaluate, return to our higher essence, and move forward to a Higher place. Grab it now. Atone — at one with ourselves, others, and The Creator. –Phillip Namanworth

Lyrics

C’racheim av al bonim means — like a father has mercy on his children.

Av harachaman means: Father of mercy.

********

Oh Lord we stand before you

Trembling body and soul

Singin’ praises to your holy name

Oh make us whole

You’ve seen our devastation

Broken hearts cry psalms of tears

I’m shattered and I’m wasted

Front sides and backs

I’ve walked a crooked tight rope

And I’ve fallen through the cracks

This road is dark with chaos

Let your compassion spread light

C’raceim av al bonim

Have mercy on your children

This Selichos night

With remorse and heartfelt sorrow

In each muscle and bone

We call out in the darkness

To plead and atone.

Throw a rope down to the downcast.

Let your spirit shed light

C’raceim av al bonim

Have mercy on your children

This Selichos night

[Guitar solo]

Ahhh——

These awesome days of judgement

tremble through the universe

Ahhh——

Mankind, heaven and Earth

Shofar blasts are screaming…

You answer with expansive love

and heal like cooling rain.

Return my children

Let your spirit take flight.

Ahhh——

These awesome days of judgement

tremble through the universe.

redemption and salvation

The birthday of creation

Mankind, heaven and Earth.

[Piano solo]

Please end this painful exile

and centuries of tears

Grant us sweet and very good

Lovin’ awesome years

Av harachaman

Have mercy on your children

Av harachaman

Have mercy on your children

Av harachaman

Have mercy on your children tonight

C’racheim  av al bonim

Have mercy on your children

This holy Selichos night.
