Between AI and I: A Conversation About Identity, Purpose, and the Future of Being Human

As we marvel at AI’s astonishing ability to replicate human intelligence — even elements of consciousness — the great question emerges: What does it mean to be human?

If machines can do everything we do — faster, more efficiently, without our errors — will we become obsolete? Dispensable?

This forces us to probe deeper: beyond the mechanics of how we think and act, into the essence of why we exist. AI may replicate the means — our functions, our processes — but what about the end? What is the ultimate purpose of the human being? What is the soul of man? Where are we headed?

Please join Rabbi Simon Jacobson for a conversation between AI and I — an exploration of the transcendent dimension of humanity.

Hi Rabbi Jacobson
I usually agree to most of your shared wisdom. I don’t believe that AI will expand the human consciousness. By personal experience, only pain made me spiritually grow. You will write poetry whilst AI answers people questions or expand your knowledge, But how many people will do that? Without generalising, a majority of people will go for quick gratification. (I am not one of them, although sometimes I fall in the trap, I am human after all). I passed the test of the apple! My first thought was to take it and share it with people who needed it. Any technological advance has good and bad, it’s all a question of how it’s used or abused. Only time will tell. I am very cautious and right now I am suspicious of what it can unleash. In the right hands it can be a wonderful tool. Think about all the people who still don’t know or acknowledge they have a soul. AI will only make them more isolated. People are befriending AI avatars and identifying with them, how can this help them? We need to spread our wisdom through love, by example. The rest, I find it empty. AI cannot replace a human hug when someone needs it. Souls talk to each other in the moments of need and that is when the soul moves within us. A programmed robot can hug you, at an intellectual level you will feel good for a minute, but it won’t be fulfilling. How much we show our soul, although invisible, it’s still very tangible. At least I have this ability to feel other people’s soul. It’s difficult to explain. AI is just some knowledge. We have to expand the world’s higher consciousness. In my opinion , this is only achievable through showing kindness, love and healing through prayers, touch etc. Wisdom (that can be shared by AI is only one piece of the puzzle). Is it worth risking humanity with the potential dangers of AI, when the ‘human’ factor is the most important one for the sake of high consciousness evolution???? I hope I am wrong.
