Have you ever been deeply inspired—only to find that, days or even hours later, the inspiration has faded as if it never happened?
Think about New Year’s resolutions. We’re motivated, excited, ready to make a change. We’ll eat better, exercise, start something new. And then, somehow, within a short time, we’re back to our old habits.
Inspiration comes relatively easily. Maintenance is the expensive part.
So how do we make inspiration last?
This is especially relevant at this time of year. We’ve just come through an extraordinary season of spiritual renewal: a month of reflection and preparation, Rosh Hashana, the Ten Days of Return, Yom Kippur, Sukkot, and the celebrations of Shemini Atzeret and Simchat Torah.
So much inspiration. So many opportunities for transformation.
But now we return to everyday life. And that raises the real question: How do we carry that inspiration with us? How do we turn a powerful moment into a lasting way of living?
