Chabad of Riverdale will be hosting engaging programs and activities for the whole family on Shavuot, Wednesday, May 31, and Thursday, June 1.

Shavuot commemorates the day God gave the Torah to the Jewish people more than 3,300 years ago. Every year on this day, Jews all over the world renew their acceptance of God’s gift.

On the first night of Shavuot, Tuesday, May 30, it is customary to study Torah the entire night. This Shavuot, Chabad of Riverdale is honored to host Rabbi Simon Jacobson, author of the best-selling book, “Toward a Meaningful Life,” which has sold over 300,000 copies. Rabbi Jacobson heads the Meaningful Life Center, which bridges the secular and spiritual through a wide variety of pioneering live and online programming. Rabbi Jacobson is one of the greatest scholars and sought-after speakers in the Jewish world today. He has lectured to diverse audiences on six continents and in 40 states. He is also publisher of the largest Yiddish-English weekly newspaper, the Algemeiner Journal.
