In 1880, the sixth Chabad Rebbe, Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Schneerson, was born into this physical plane. On the same day in 1927, after being sentenced to death for spreading Judaism throughout the Soviet Union, the Previous Rebbe, as he was lovingly known, was released from captivity and his Chassidim celebrate this as a day of liberation. It is our role to spread the light of Torah and Mitzvoth. The world tries at times to imprison us. It fails miserably and we celebrate our – and the world’s – liberation.
